We found this cognac at a small bouilleur de cru in Verrières. In the cognac region, the bouilleur de cru plays a crucial role in preserving the tradition and diversity of cognac. They contribute to the region's reputation by offering unique, artisan-made products that reflect the specific characteristics of their vineyards.
We ourselves are big fans of the cognacs that come from vineyards located in this 14 km2 small municipality of Verrières.
This municipality with only about 400 inhabitants is part of the "golden triangle" of the cognac region.

About the producer:
Unfortunately, we do not have the right to share the name of this producer. But take it from us, the cognacs from this cellar and the small Charentaise farm are a reflection of the past overtaken by the high speed of the present.

Tasting notes:
Nose: Lush and complex aromas greet you with an explosion of tropical fruit. Ripe mango, juicy pineapple and a hint of passion fruit dance together with delicate hints of peach and apricot. Not only fruit, but certainly also chewing tobacco, pickled ginger and Chinese black tea.
Taste: Wow! This interweaving between nose and taste is sublime! At the first sip a beautifully balanced palette of flavors unfolds. The tropical fruitiness of the nose immediately emerges with intensely ripe pineapple and mango, accompanied by hints of papaya and guava. As the taste develops further, notes of pink pepper, ginger and cloves emerge, all so harmonious.
Finish:  The aftertaste is long and luxurious, this is enjoyment!

Label explanation:
We have big news! Our passion for cognac has made us realize that we need an even more suitable location to keep up with our growth. That is why we are moving to a place that better suits our professional activities and where we can do even more for and with the best cognacs.
Yes, we have found a location where the walls are as strong as those of the best cellars in France and the floors as smooth as a well-aged 1966.
So grab your glass, raise it high, and join us for a new chapter!
Le déménageur = the mover, santé!

Thank you for your continued support and see you soon at our new location. We promise that the cognac will remain just as excellent, but the experience will be even better!

Ruben Luyten, www.whiskynotes.be, 14/06/2024:
Nose: a nice jammy fruitiness (stewed apricots, ripe mango) with round honey and hints of cinnamon pastry. Then also the (pepper)minty side that we also found in the Lot 68 from Verrières. Light resin, Woolong tea and tobacco. Really good.
Mouth: oh yeah. Tropical fruits, now also with pineapple, pink grapefruit and passion fruits. Mango sweets, dried papaya cubes. The full monty, enriched by generous honey, with some fruit jams and syrup. Then light tobacco, which fades into menthol and eucalyptus, with candied ginger and rose pepper on the side.
Finish: long and elegant, with herbal freshness, liquorice and fruity sweetness underneath.
Another excellent bottling from Verrières. In terms of roundness and tropical fruitiness, this is hard to beat. Highly drinkable.
Score: 91/100

Verhuis

Ik zou zeggen: mark your calendar!

Serge Valentin, whiskyfun.com, 09/06/2024:
I just wonder how Belgium could be 'malternative' with all the beer they produce. Hey, just kidding! This is supposed to be a 'reflection of the past overtaken by the high speed of the present', which I find very cool. Colour: deep gold. Nose: back to a classic profile, with cooked peaches and honey, touches of eucalyptus and mint, liquorice, figs, and very mild pepper… In fact, I don't think you can get more classic than this. Mouth: no sensation of advanced age, lively fruitiness, honey, pollen, herbal teas, high-quality green tea (Taiwan, thanks again friends) and apples cooked in Sauternes. Yes, really. Finish: not very long but with a magnificent mentholated liquorice. Comments: I don't think there's much to say, it's just totally excellent, fresh, almost thirst-quenching (that's the dangerous part). Please when you pour yourself a glass, then put the bottle at a safe distance, and only then do you dip your lips for the first taste. Is that clear?
