The Merlin family has established their cognac house in Artenac since 1870. Artenac is an absolute top location in petite champagne. It was grandfather Laurent Merlin who started there. At the end of the 1990s, Laurent Merlin's grandson passed away and his daughter Carmen Merlin inherited the company, including the cellars. The vineyards were soon sold. It sold the last bottled bottles until the beginning of the 20th century. The cognac we offer was purchased by a private individual at the domain in 2004. The family had only 20 hectares of vineyards on the best petite champagne grounds and their cognacs were highly regarded. Even now they are still much sought after, a "treasure" more than worthy! They were also regular suppliers to France's best restaurants: Taillevent, Tour d'Argent, Troisgros and Bocuse to name a few. The Hors Pair was their best expression, seen by many as "The Holy Grail of Petite Champagne"!
